Birds & Wildlife Tour

The Cabinas Capulín are a perfect place for observing birds and wildlife. The cabins are located on a quiet dairy farm, surrounded by beautiful cloud forest, lovely gardens, and green pastures, and have a 1 Km forest trail that you can explore at your leisure. A rich diversity of bird species have been observed around the cabins, including emerald toucanets, resplendent quetzals, keel-billed toucans, chestnut headed oropendolas, blue crowned motmots, golden crowned woodpeckers, white-crowned parrots, crimson fronted parakeets, golden browed chlorophonias, hummingbirds, and many more.

Howler monkeys, white-faced monkeys, coati, opossums, agoutis and sloths are also frequent visitors to the farm. And if you’re very lucky, you might even see a peccary (wild pig), porcupine or a puma. If you’re interested in birds, Jose Manuel Torres Leitón (one of the five siblings who run the farm) can help you locate the best places to find specific species. Jose Manuel works as an accredited naturalist at the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve and knows all of the bird species of the area. To contact him, call 8812-0905 or 2645-5285, email: torresljm@yahoo.com, or ask for his services at the cabin reception.
